Lift Features

A Lake Shore Tram Lift System can be installed on terrain inclines up to 45 degrees. We can also provide a customized Lift System for inclines over 45 degrees. The price of a customized Lift is based on many factors including the degree of incline, composition of terrain, and other needs of the customer. Customized Lift Systems will require on-site inspection of factory personnel before the final price of the Lift can be determined.

Lake Shore Tram is the only company that has three safety braking systems:

Total cable failure braking system
Over-speed braking system
Track obstruction bumper braking system

The track is constructed with heavy-duty steel framing and is built with a special bar joist support system for extra strength and durability. The special design of the track and passenger car makes it impossible for the passenger car to be tipped off of the track.

Passenger cars are 48 x 60 inches in size and are designed to handle a maximum capacity of 1,000 lbs. and to comfortably seat four adult passengers. The lumber used for the passenger car seating is green-treated to provide years of trouble free service. A door gate is another feature provided on the passenger car for additional safety.

Lake Shore Tram is the industry leader in utilizing a continuous wrap main cable system to provide a smooth ride. All three cables used in our Lake Shore Tram Lift System are high quality American made galvanized aircraft cable that has a minimum rating of 17,000 lbs.

Lake Shore Tram uses 2/3/5 HP three-phase heavy duty electric motors. 3 HP being standard. This allows our system to have the exceptional ‘Soft’ Start & Stop feature.

Our Lift Systems have convenient Push Button control switches located at the top and bottom of the Lift System. These Push Button controls are easily accessible from the passenger car. An in car control and remote is also available as an optional accessory. This allows the car to be stopped anywhere on the track and is handy for gathering wood, gardening, etc.

Limit switches for the Lake Shore Tram Lift System are located at the top and bottom of the Lift. These switches automatically stop the passenger car. All you do is sit back and enjoy the ride!

The Drive Unit features a heavy-duty gearbox with a 1 1/2" drive shaft. The entire Drive Unit includes a fiberglass cover that protects the Drive Unit System from the weather.

All painted metal parts are undercoated with rust inhibiting primer prior to powder coating. This provides years of maintenance free service. We also offer Triple Flow Coat Corrosive Protection and then powder coated to 400 degrees.

Our Lake Shore Tram Lift System has been designed and built for years of worry free service. With regular, routine maintenance and service (provided by our authorized technicians), your Lift System can provide 40+ years of fun and enjoyment.
